Becoming is Who You Are

Here is a relieving realization: I will spend the rest of my life becoming who I am meant to be.

I will never outgrow the process of becoming.

I will never outrun it.

The becoming will never halt nor stop.

What if as I go through life and stumble upon my shortcomings and flaws, I was no longer disappointed or appalled? What if instead, I found peace, and excitement even, that I’ve discovered another opportunity to grow? A new way to be formed into who I am meant to be?

What if we welcomed our failures and faults with a warm, gentle hug, “I’ve been looking for you.” With a tender whisper too, “You, my friend, have unlocked a new door for me to grow once again. Thank you.”

We get to be transformed, refined, and molded, more and more each day. I’ll repeat that — we GET TO. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to grow. And the more I think about it, why would we want it any other way?

Friend, may you enjoy the process of becoming today.
